Do You Know The Muffin Man? Or Woman?

It's not often that I get the baking urge, in fact it is very seldom! But every now and then I bake my one and only speciality, namely 'Cheese, Olive and Poppy Seed Muffins'! Note the capital letters there to really underline their yummyness.

I tend to make them more to give away than to eat, usually to our wonderful MOH (Meals on Heels) dentist friend who regularly arrives at the door with grapes, braaied meat, curries and stews. How to reciprocate when this man makes Gordon Ramsay look like an amateur? In a short answer...........Muffins!

My award winning muffins!! No award yet though!

A while ago we started a 'poetry delivery notice'. To make sure that he was at home and I wasn't baking for nothing, I would send a little rhyme like:
'Are you home at ten to three? How about muffins for your tea? Twelve, eight, six or four. Rob will bring them to your door'

And he would reply in similar vein!

This morning I wrote:
'Muffins for tea? Delivered by me! Be there at eleven. Won't that be Heaven?' and he replied
'Thanx, got your parcel also. We'll be "chew-chew" on the go!'
(I have to admit, I think my poetry is a little more sophisticated than his!!)

So I delivered them right on time in a howlingly freezing wind that almost blew the whole lot down the road! I had visions of them bowling along past his door and me sending a message:
'There go the muffins past your door. If you hurry you may catch four. Sorry if they're a little dusty. If they were metal they would be rusty!'

But fortunately it didn't come to that! They were delivered safe and sound and in return I was given a lovely bottle of red wine! To go with the plate of deliciously braaied meat that he dropped off earlier this morning with two punnets of grapes for afters!

Beautiful sweet seedless grapes!

And as Rob is away at the moment in Kruger Park, there is enough to last me until at least Tuesday!

That's what I call a great deal!

And talking of chocolate.....read on! See how I tie in my thoughts?

The famous Lindt Bunny, doing its bit for conservation.

'One of South Africa’s most threatened mammals – the Critically Endangered Riverine Rabbit – will again benefit from the LINDT Easter GOLD BUNNY sales as the makers of luxurious chocolate, Lindt & Sprüngli (South Africa), has for the fifth year in a row agreed to support the Endangered Wildlife Trust's (EWT) conservation work of this rare and endemic Karoo species.' (EWT Newsletter)

Happy Easter to those who celebrate it, and if you are going to eat chocolate, make sure it is the Lindt Bunny!

Wish I had a MOH in this area! What a good gesture by Lindt, last year a friend in the UK sent a pic of an enormous Lindt bunny in Kent (Ithink it was)

I was hoping that you would comment on my wonderful poetry!! But yes, it is a wonderful gesture and a great way to persuade people to eat more chocolate!!

I could do with a Muffin or two
In Kruger you see there is only Biltong to chew.
So when home I come make sure to bake
and I will skip the chocolate cake
