Catastrophe!

I am sure that you will have worked out by now, that any title beginning with 'Cat...' is about..........cats! I have to slip a story in every now and then, being a cat lover myself and having a family that is moggy about mogs!
As you know, my daughter is very involved with rescuing strays, and most weeks has two or three in those clever traps being taken to the various vets who neuter and vaccinate. A few weeks ago a small one-eyed female came out of the bushes and literally flung herself at Catherine’s friend, desperate for food and love, thin and weak. Off she went to the vet to be checked, treated and spayed. On top of her poor condition the vet had to clean and stitch the empty eye socket (turns out she was born that way thanks to a virus). She was named Lily (as I said to Catherine, 'Lily with one i, just as she is', clever hey??) She stayed at the vet's for a while, wearing a collar to stop her scratching, and became a firm favourite.

Happily, she has been fostered now with several other cats and one large dog (who she loves) and hopefully she will be homed soon. Yesterday I heard from Catherine that she was sneezing, (Lily that is, but so was Catherine, come to think of it!) Hopefully they are both feeling better today!
All healed and feeling better! She copes perfectly with one eye.

Here is another story, also from Catherine. She took two females last week to be 'fixed' and checked, but when she came to fetch them, they only gave her one back.......the wrong one! Read on in her words.
'This is the cat that I trapped last week, would not go to sleep for her spay, was given back to me in error, and I almost released her, bundled her back into the trap went back to vet and overnight she had two babies.
Now in foster care with a lovely french family for 6 weeks so kitties can grow and become tame. She may also be homed if possible as she is so friendly. 2 cute little buttons, have been christened Peanut and Butter. :) Mommy cat has been christened Mimi.

Fostering means the kittens will be tame and used to people, making homing them a possibility. Once the kittens are older Mimi will be spayed and they will all be homed hopefully, otherwise she will go back to where she was trapped. Hope kits go together but who knows.
She is quite tame and sweet which makes fostering possible.'
Sneezing or not, Catherine is out there doing what she can to help the cat population. As she (and all the volunteers) regularly empty their purses to keep the programmes going, they welcome any donation, large or small.
And here is 'Christmas' a British Blue/Arabian Mau cross.

If you would like to help, you can go onto her blog - http://catinthedunes.com/ - and click on the 'donate' button.
Remember, every little helps!
