Our waterlogged veranda. Even the wooden duck has had enough! |
Yesterday (and today!) we lit the fire at about 10 a.m. and spent the day inside looking out! Alfie was extremely reluctant to go outside and had to be persuaded. I had visions of him using the cats litter tray, they were queueing up to use it!
'Lake Pauline' at the end of the drive way! |
The next storm approaching! Look at the sea! |
As our neighbour texted Rob when Rob sent him the rainfall figures, ' Wat n storm, ek het in Saldanha wakker geword saam met die wind!' ('What a storm, I woke up in Saldanha together with the wind!') and our neighbour on the corner had at least 22 mm in their daughter's bedroom and foam from the sea blew onto the veranda. That's quite a way to blow as you see from the photo below!
The foam blew onto the Scotts' veranda! |
The cats coped in various ways with the weather and the noise. Basil carried on as usual, everywhere at the same time and Dopey lay on the rug next to the fire. Dilbert is a strange lad. He loves us at night, comes in and spends time on my lap, purrs like a traction engine and is really part of the family. However, when the sun comes up (or when it's supposed to come up), he heads outside, will not let us touch him and turns feral! He's out now in all the chaos. Daffy simply disappears. I was so worried about him right through the night as he was nowhere in sight and I was convinced that he was out in it all. This morning he was dry and sitting at the study door so had obviously been in all night!
Rob said that we should have called those two Jekyll and Hide!!
